In January 2020 the historical society celebrated it’s 20th anniversary. Of course. it was not a year-long, extravagant celebration because we were in the throes of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the Society has much to celebrate. For a town of only ____ residents and a society that is only 20 years old, we have accomplished a lot!
In 2000 the Society acquired, for $1, the former Methodist Church building on State Road 2A. The building had been vacant and was in substantial disrepair. Immediately, Society members began stabilizing the building to prevent further deterioration. The building had come with only the land it was situated on with enough extra to access the building, but Society members were not discouraged. They were excited to have a building of historical significance for a home.
